The Kitscoty 4-H Beef Club has been very busy since our last report.
Three of our members went to District Communications on Feb. 27 in Vermilion.
All three did very well, with Luke Wennekamp winning the Intermediate division.
His speech was on hockey injuries.
The club’s next meeting was on March 16, when the members worked on learning how to judge.
As always, one of the highlights of the year was the Club Tour held on April 10.
Members travelled to all the farms, enjoying a warm spring day, studying which calf was going to be grand champion, and generally having a great time.
Dinner at Boston Pizza followed.
The next weekend the whole club participated in the Grooming Clinic at the Lloydminster Exhibition.  Everybody learned a tremendous amount.
The next day was the Nelson Lumber Judging Competition.
Members judged dairy cattle, beef bulls, alpacas, light horses, draft horses, and photographs.
Many of the members came home with placings at the competition.
All of the members helped clean dishes at the Kitscoty Dinner Theatre.
All 4-H clubs complete a community service project and this was the project for the Kitscoty Beef Club.
The club’s final meeting of the year was held on May 18.
There was a lot of planning to do for Achievement Day.
Also at this meeting the club decided to donate $500 to the Red Cross for relief efforts for Fort McMurray.
The whole club was shocked by this devastating fire and wanted to help out.
Member’s thoughts and prayers are with everyone displaced by the disaster.
I would just like to remind everyone that our Achievement Day is on June 4, 2016.
The show starts at noon.
Supper is at 5 p.m.  and everyone is welcome.
The steer sale is at 7 p.m.
Everyone is invited out to purchase a fantastic 4-H Beef for their freezer.  If you would like to purchase a half of a steer, please talk to one of the leaders or 4-H members on sale day.  We look forward to seeing all of you there!
